This Fall we're heading back out west. COVID will be in our thoughts as we plan for adventures while we stay safe! Our plans are to head first to Colorado, then zip over to Utah. Lots of hiking and biking are planned along our route.

Jordan RVs with us to Williamsburg, VA and more!

Jordan's out of school for the summer, and we were looking to do some RVing, so what could be a better plan?!

Jordan's dad, Michael, drove him to us and our RV just outside Richmond, VA.  We then continued on to Williamsburg for three days for colonial discoveries.  We utilized local bus service to  transport  us daily from the Anvil Campground, where Jordan loved the swimming pool,
to Colonial Williamsburg, to check out the over 250 year old buildings.  Our favorite memory is when Jordan was appointed Governor, and took his rightful place a the head of the House of Burgesses. Take a close look at our photo to see him dwarfed by the furniture.

We did mazes, checked out the fire "truck", the local craftsman,
and even ate lots of colonial food.

We then headed to Jamestown for a day, where Jordan was being recruited to sail back to England for more settler supplies.  He was excited to discover that he was 1/16 British.

Our last stop was at Pocahontas State Park for a few days of traditional camping.  For the two days that we were here, we walked the 1/2 mile path to the water park.  What fun with all of the water slides, the water dump buckets, and the huge 3.5 foot deep pool.  It was tough to head back to the RV after all of this fun.

Alaska.....Cruise & Drive

No RV on this adventure, but what an adventure it was!

We started our almost 3 week trip with a week on Uncruise's Wilderness Explorer cruise ship.  Unlike the large behemoth Alaska cruise ships, this one only had room for us and 63 other adventure seeking cruisers.

We boarded the ship in Juneau, after a day out at the Mendenhall Glacier and then a city tour by the CEO of Uncruise (very special).  For a week we kayaked, bush wacked,  skiff toured, and enjoyed the company of the passengers as we toured the rain forests from Juneau to Sitka.

We did have plenty of rain, but we learned to enjoy this liquid sunshine and gain a true appreciation of southeast Alaska.

What could be more special than kayaking by a glacier as it calved, with crashing blue ice falling into the water.  Can't forget to mention watching the whales spout and flip their tales, and the black & white (ala killer whale markings) dolphins enjoying our cruising by their home.  Also many seals, eagles, bears, sea stars and other cool critters!

Docking at Sitka, we learned about the native Tlingit culture and walked through the National Historic Park with many replicas of their totems.  We also toured the historical buildings left from when the Russians owned this part of the world back in the mid 1800s.

Flying on to Anchorage, we left the rain behind....well almost.  Rented a car for the week.  After touring around Anchorage, including a bike ride on the outskirts, we drove up to Denali, with a stop at the funky town of Talkeetna on the way.

Wow, did we luck out for our NPS bus ride into the park to see Denali up close.  A beautiful sunny blue sky day.  Lots of animals along the way,
Incredible vistas, and then...…….

Wow...…..Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, at over 20,000 feet.

Next time we come to Alaska, we will need to bring our RV!
