This Fall we're heading back out west. COVID will be in our thoughts as we plan for adventures while we stay safe! Our plans are to head first to Colorado, then zip over to Utah. Lots of hiking and biking are planned along our route.

Grandparents Day

The initiator of our two week summer RV trip was our plan to attend Grandparents Day at both Shane & Anna's camp.  So to close off our trip, we camped at October Mountain State Forest Campground near Lee, MA, and plotted out our drive and parking plans to get to visiting day.
A little challenging on some of the back roads, and parking had to be all preplanned since there wasn't directions on where to park our 31 foot Winnebago, and we made it.

A great success.  We were glad to see Anna at Camp Ramoca, and the following day, Shane at Camp Graylock.  And they were glad to see us.  Very impressive camps...…..if I could only be a kid again!

Some Lobsta!

Driving back from Campobello, we planned a two day stop at Acadia National Park.  Camped at Seawall Campground, far from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor.  More importantly, Seawall is near Thurstons Lobster Pound --  the BEST! We made it to Thurstons twice in this short stop.

Even better was the seafood feast that Dan & Liz cooked for our whole group.  All done on the campfire....Salmon, Halibut, and Maine Potatoes.  Ruthie did cook the scallops inside on the stove top.  WOW !!

Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada

With our passports in hand, we crossed the bridge from Lubec Maine (the eastern most town in the USA), to Campobello Island.  It was Jack & Logan's first time into a foreign land; and they were very excited!  For six days we camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park and checked out all the Island had to offer.

The Roosevelts, FDR and Eleanor, spent many summers up here in their 34 room "cottage" that they purchased in 1909.  This is where young Franklin learned to sail and increased his love for the outdoors.  We toured the cottage and learned the history of Campobello and the Roosevelt involvement.  We even sat on the lawn and listened to a Harp concert.  Also had tea with Eleanor; a nice hour presentation discussing Eleanor's time at Campobello, and enjoyed the tea and sugar cookies.

Other days, with Jack & Logan, we took a number of the hiking trails through the maritime forests and bogs.  Stopped at the Gibraltar Rock, left by the glaciers, and walked along the seashore gazing out into the fog.

J&Ls parents joined us for part of our island stay.  Together we had some great Lobster and seafood for dinner, and another day we headed out to Head Harbour (East Quoddy) Lighthouse.  A no-fog, blue sky day, perfect day to whale watch behind the lighthouse into the Atlantic Ocean.  And did we see whales!

BIG NEWS! We finally made it to Rhode Island

Yep, took over 8 years, but now we can say we've been to all 48 contiguous states.  To accomplish this huge task, we needed to drive over the George Washington Bridge, through the Bronx, along traffic clogged I-95, and a camp over in Connecticut, near the Rhode Island border.

A nice campground too, Rocky Neck State Park, right on Long Island Sound.  Jack & Logan checked it out and reported that they like the waves of the Jersey Shore better.

Now camped in Winslow, Maine at a very nice lake...………..and we even have a lake view!
