We took the Mt.Washington Cog Railroad to the TOP !!

Jumped on the 10am cog railroad and climbed up tothe summit of Mt. Washington.  The RR is the oldest cog railroad in the world.  As we climbed, we watched the fog and the hikers on the AT.  Got to the top where it was foggy and cold!  Took some photos, passed up all of the classic "I climbed Mt. Washington" T-shirts, and took the cog back down the hill.

Then stopped at the Mt. Washington Hotel, a 1900 era hotel where Morey was actually at about 10 years ago for a NorthEast Home Depot manager meeting.  It was the last week the hotel was open. Windy, cold; the windows shook...and HD brought in electric generator trucks to add power for the presentations.  This was the famous meeting where Morey won the "rock award", for the buy of the year.  He had actually bought rocks from China.

Next onto a hike in Crawford Notch SP where we walked up a steep mountain to see a Falls; tripping through tree routes and slogging thru the mud.  FUN!

Started our US-2 drive....Back later in September

Left BarHarbor, up to Bangor and then onto US-2.  Saw the famous wooden indian in Skokegan!

Acadia National Park for a week

Spent a week camped at Black Woods campground.  Had a great time biking the carriage paths, eating popovers and blueberry icecream at the Jordan Pond House, and having Dan-Liz-Jack-Logan join us!

It was only two weeks ago that we were camping on Ocracoke Island. Can't wait to get back to our RV for more adventures!

Just purchased a video camera and added Skype to our laptop. This will be a great way to stay in touch with all of our family and friends.

BIW has it's first checkup

Had a great experience at our local Ford truck dealership!  Took in our RV for its first oil change and maintenance.  Also had the engine battery checked out as it wasn't holding a charge.  Ford replaced the battery and Lou, the mechanic, took the time to walk me through all of the maintenance requirements.  I learned a lot!  Glad we have a Ford chasis and drive train on our Winnebago. 

For the first time in over a year, I walked out of a car dealership service department with an under $100 bill.  Sure beats my $700 plus service bills with my Cadillac {glad it's gone.}  Now looking for a bumper sticker for our only family car, "MY OTHER VEHICLE IS A RV".

We're keeping our RV; a great first outing!

We headed out, first on the Cape May Ferry, then thru the Delmava peninsula, continuing thru the Outerbanks... What a trip! Saw incredible dunes & beaches, great lighthouses, quaint towns, and mountain flowers in their Spring glory. Visited Michael & Jess at their new home (NICE!), and took Michael with us to see the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. Our BIW RV performed well. Morey learned to change fuses, and have a rear tire changed (bolt picked up in last campground). Even learned how to use the "dump" station.

A great trip... 3 ferries, 3 tunnels, many bridges.....the road life is grand!
Best of all is family time.  Great to get back to North Carolina.

Some reflective thoughts from Morey

As I look at our Winnebago parked out front, I think back to Hansen, the then CEO of Winnebago, speaking to our MBA class of 74.  The economy was in a shambles, gas prices were rocketed skyward (a little license from my aerospace days), and us MBAs had all kind of plans to get Winnebago out of the RV business and into some new venture.  Mr. Hansen, at the end of all of our presentations of our recommendations, stated very clearly, "We are in the Recreational Vehicle business, and that's where we plan to stay."  Had I only known (and maybe I did!), that 35 years later, we would purchase one and travel this great country.
