This Fall we're heading back out west. COVID will be in our thoughts as we plan for adventures while we stay safe! Our plans are to head first to Colorado, then zip over to Utah. Lots of hiking and biking are planned along our route.

Lonesome Lake

Our final day on this Maine-NH RV trip.

We biked the 4 miles down to Lafayette campground, locked our bikes and headed up the trail to Lonesome Lake. It was a 1.2 mile hike to the edge of the lake -- through rocks and thru a climb of almost 1,000 ft.

As promised by Morey, the weather turned from an overcast sky with occasional sprinkles to a magnificent day with blue sky and puffy clouds.

We walked along the lake on the board walks (literally a couple of boards over a log) to where the AMC hut rests. Found an area to stretch out, enjoy our picnic lunch... and then take a brief snooze in the afternoon sunshine!

Tomorrow morning, its time to unhook the water and electric, pull in the slides, raise the levelers, and drive back to New Jersey. Next RV trip is our BIG ONE !!

Franconia Notch NH

Did we complete a tri-athelon?!

Biked the Bike Path thru Franconia Notch, to the "Basin", where we hiked to Knisman Cascades and Falls -- WOW, what powerful water from all the rain we received last night and this morning.

Then Biked to The Flume...where we hiked to the Flume Gorge and thru two covered bridges.

And then, biked back to our campsite on Echo Lake; stopping first at the lodge to buy some pretzels and cheese to go with our beer.

And now Ruthie is cooking chili and rice!! Have to bulk up for tomorrows adventure!

We took the Mt.Washington Cog Railroad to the TOP !!

Jumped on the 10am cog railroad and climbed up tothe summit of Mt. Washington.  The RR is the oldest cog railroad in the world.  As we climbed, we watched the fog and the hikers on the AT.  Got to the top where it was foggy and cold!  Took some photos, passed up all of the classic "I climbed Mt. Washington" T-shirts, and took the cog back down the hill.

Then stopped at the Mt. Washington Hotel, a 1900 era hotel where Morey was actually at about 10 years ago for a NorthEast Home Depot manager meeting.  It was the last week the hotel was open. Windy, cold; the windows shook...and HD brought in electric generator trucks to add power for the presentations.  This was the famous meeting where Morey won the "rock award", for the buy of the year.  He had actually bought rocks from China.

Next onto a hike in Crawford Notch SP where we walked up a steep mountain to see a Falls; tripping through tree routes and slogging thru the mud.  FUN!

Started our US-2 drive....Back later in September

Left BarHarbor, up to Bangor and then onto US-2.  Saw the famous wooden indian in Skokegan!

Acadia National Park for a week

Spent a week camped at Black Woods campground.  Had a great time biking the carriage paths, eating popovers and blueberry icecream at the Jordan Pond House, and having Dan-Liz-Jack-Logan join us!
